How to lose 5lbs a week on vegetarian diet?

I’m 19 years old and have been a vegetarian for 4 years. I have been on a diet for the past month and have already lost 40lbs. I have been only eating about 500 calories a day and light excercise. When I started my diet I was 285lbs and now I am 245lbs and I am 5’10”. The past week I have not lost any weight and it’s really frustrating. I just wanted to know if anyone knows a good way to be able to lose up to 5lbs a week on a vegetarian diet?

well you’re not eating a whole lot of calories… which is dangerous on any diet…

I would suggest eating less junk food. just because it’s vegetarian doesn’t make it healthy.

eat more calories so you have the energy (from healthy foods) and do more exercise.

try to mix it up a bit. when your body adjusts to a routine, you will get stuck at a plateau.

try to do moderate cardio exercise for 30 minutes 3 days a week and then do weight training the other 2 days a week.

The cardio will burn fat. The weight training will build muscle, which raises your metabolism causing you to burn more fat next time you do cardio.

since you are already vegetarian, maybe you should take the next step and eat vegan. Cutting out all those milk fats and cholesterol from eggs could give you the boost that you need.
