“How can I Lose 1 pound of body weight per week?”

One pound of body fat is equal to about 3500 calories. So to lose 1 pound of weight per week, you need to eat 500 calories/day LESS than you burn.

But it’s not a good idea to lose weight simply by cutting calories. As well as decreasing calories you should increase your daily physical exercise. This helps to burn calories and build more lean tissue which in turn burns more calories.

“What should a minimum calorie intake be?”

As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

My step-dad is also trying to lose weight. You need to excercise at least 30 minutes a day, and at most 1 hour and 30 minutes. What you need to do about eating is have it balanced. DON’T just go on healthy food. You WILL lose wait fast if you do that, but you will gain it back faster. My step-dad did that once. Balance your healthy foods, with some unhealthy foods. Don’t make the unhealthy foods too unhealthy. Balance your meals. My step-dad eats a nutri-grain bar in the morning, a chicken sandwich in the after noon, and then something healthy for dinner. The next day he does something for dinner like steak. Go on stuff like that.

Answer #5

Just don’t overdo it on the excercise - some people have such a desire to lose weight quickly that they make themselves sick.

Moderate your eating (a little junk food is ok, but remember that you’ll have to reduce calories by excerise or eating less that day - not recommended)

As long as you keep at it and each day if you are able to push yourself just a little further, you’ll reach your goal
