How honest are environmentalists and people in general?

Well we as a species have been abusing it since the dawn of time, but there are ALWAYS people out there who do care. and I know that some envirornmentalists really do care… YES I may have taken an abrubt realization or eye-opener to get them to care, but I would say that yes many people do care.

I think that everyone cares to an extent, but there is only so much you can do. And I don’t think that there are enough people who put the effort in to make everything better. I know its in everyones minds, but then actually taking action is not happening like it should.

Personally I think 95% of environmentalist are full of BS and are selfish bastards. Only reason they care about the environment is they don’t want to be inconvenienced in the future. They want their little slice of this world to be perfect. Either that, or they care about the environment because it’s “the fashionable thing to do”

You want to see a true environmentalist? They have a much better title: OLD FARMER / RANCHER. Or go talk to an old logger. They know more about the environment than any neo-yuppie tree huger.

Of course we wouldn’t care about it if it didn’t affect us. We’re selfish. Period. I recycle, turn off my electronics, use energy efficient bulbs, etc, but I doubt I would even do that if it didn’t impact me somehow. The fact is that there are so many things to worry about in this world…hunger, poverty, peace…you get the idea. The environment just sort of takes it’s place amidst all those and we deal with it as we can. Should we care about it despite our involvement? Of course, but I highly doubt we ever would or will. Selfishness is just part of human nature. Acknowledging that is half the battle.

You are right: people only care about it for their own survival and health and wealth´s sake.
