How can I teach my 3 year old to talk?
My 3 year old son had tubes put in his ears about a year and a half ago and has made incredible improvements with his speech. But here the past couple months he has hit a wall, we have been working with flash cards and games. For some reason we are not seeing results any ideas? We just want to be able to understand when he talks and dont want him to be behind in school
Im studying ‘special eduacational needs for children’ in college and all I can say is it takes time and lots of it !! you just have to keep trying again and again.. its not unusual for children to get bored with doing the same thing like flash cards and stuff like that . try using objects around him to get him talking for eg. use his favourite teddy bear and try start out a conversation with him and build on that or when your out with him ask him to name objects that he sees and tell you about them ..also remember to keep encouraging and praising him for his effort because the last thing you want is for him to be self consious about his speech because that can set him back even further…You should consider arranging for him to have speech therapy if he’s not already having it .. it will really help ! Hope this helped !! :) Xo
3 years old is a lil young for him to be talking just about anything but the best thing to do is have a grown up conversation with someone else and have him listen to it even if it looks like hes not paying any attention to it. He’ll catch a couple of words and use them later on if you do this often enough =). Reading to him every night helps a lot!!! Something with big pictures and big letters and point out to him what the ball is and what the house is. =)
hope that helps
id love to help but I know nothing of this type of thing…
but glad the lil fella is making improvements :)
