How can I get the perfect toe touch?

How can I get the perfect toe touch? I really want to try out for cheerleading at my school. I was a gymnast for nine years so I can do back handsprings and a lot of tumbling but I don’t have a very good toe touch. I’m pretty flexible, so thats not the problem. I just can’t get to a decent height. I have a trampoline at my house. Would practicing on that help any? I need to get it before April because that is when tryouts are!

I’ve been a cheerleader for about 8 years and it’s definately a difficult skill to master. I would suggest not practicing on the trampoline, because you will get so used to the bounce and when you try it on the ground it will be a lot more difficult. Make sure you stretch out in the straddle position so your body gets used to the position. And when you go for it, keep your head up and your torso straight and when you put your arms out, don’t reach for your feet .. try to make your feet reach for your hands (if that makes any sense) Just make sure you wait for your height before you spread your legs apart. If it helps, practice by doing it without spreading your legs, just a straight jump.. my team does those all the time (like 10-15 in a row) and it helps so much!

hope I could be of some help :)
