Does anyone have any evidence that god is real?

Heard the one about someone trying to protect a lion from its enemies? Truth is…God’s Word (the Bible) is like a lion…turn it loose and it will protect itself! Now that’s brilliant.

* It amazes me that brilliant people would rather hang their hats on truly unprovable issues like evolution than have faith in God.

Have you considered the possibility that these brilliant people know something you don’t?

No, there isn’t any credible evidence of any supernatural happenings or other worldly beings.

Humans have a tendency to attribute anything unusual or unknown to an intelligent being of some kind. This was a valuable survival instinct to our ancestors to help them from being hunted by leapoards, but that’s all it is.

God IS and always has been, no beginning or end. He is the Great I AM, eternal. Hard to fathom, but when He changes your life…there’s no holding Him in. Each of us have a story and that is what people want to hear. “How has He changed your life?” Here is part of mine, copied and pasted from another advice:

He becomes real when we have a crisis of belief. Somewhere, sometime it happens to all of us. A situation arises when we must decide.

For me, I was asked, and, ‘I hadn’t really thought about it until there was a threat of divorce, turn back to Jesus,’ was the start of my recommitment to the Lord. Knowing there was no changing her mind, that in her heart, she was already gone, even if NOW I was going to spend more quality time, and that my boys were moving out with her. Many other dumb things were done in my life that I’m not proud of and I knew I had to change, married or not.

People want to hear stories, not be preached to or lectured.

Don’t know why we all don’t start with our stories on how God has changed our lives.

I had been praying the prayer of Jabez for a year and the church called me in! That was seven years ago. Now serving as an elder in our independent Bible church.

Pen some stories out there! I had seen a question to that effect a while back.

The bible says that the evidence is all around us. It also says that the god of this world has blinded our eyes to the truth.

God is spirit. If you want to understand his realm, then, you have to come as a child. He says that unless you do, you will never be a part of his kingdom.

He is God. He does not have to prove him self to anyone.

He says that the evidence is already here.

It is up to us, to see it.

We have to come to him, in sincerity and truth, in humbleness.

When we seek him, with our whole hearts, he will be found of us.

He is the Ancient of Ages.

The Alpha & the Omega.

The Begining and the End.

The Lion of the Tribe of Judah.

The Great I Am.

The Everlasting Father.

The Mighty God.

The Rose of Sharon.

Our Counselor.

Our Protector.

Our Provider.

The Friend that Sticks Closer than a Brother.

Our Advocate with the Father.

He needs no introduction.

He is, was and always will be.

We are his creation.

He paid the price to redeem us unto him self.

He made a way for us.

It is up to us, to find that way, and walk in it.

No flesh shall glory in his presence.

Flesh stinks in his nostrils.

We are spirit,

Salvation is free…

But, everything esle will cost you something.

He determines the price for each of us.

If we are not willing to give what he asks for, then we are not worthy of him.

He says to not look back, once he has called us.

We are to drop what we are doing and follow him.

He touches one life at a time.

He deals with us individually.

He is Omnipotent,

He is Omniscient,

These words do not describe anything else. But him.

They were created … just for him.

They describe his attributes.

He reveals him self to man, little by little.

He is precious.

He is important.

He is God.

I;m an atheist, and most people who believe in God say they do because everything is so “complex” And it couldn’t just poof into existence, and an intelligent creator had to have designed everything.

..But I say, if complexity needs an intelligent creator, then who created the creator? he couldn’t have just poofed into existence

It’s more logical to think complexity arose from billions of years of natruel processes.

The question isn’t whether there is evidence, but whether or not there is CREDIBLE and RELEVANT evidence.

Read the first post, and you’ll see 4 bits of evidence, all of which are irrelevant to the question of the existence of any gods.

Ask yourself this. If there are any gods, and they want us to know about them, why are they so elusive? Wouldn’t it make more sense just to show up and say “hey, yah, I’m god and all that, but it’s cool. I’m omni-stuff so… I don’t really need you to worship me or anything. I just thought we might hang out”

The response to this is usually “oh but then we couldn’t choose him through free will!!! yeah he’s so smart and fantastic!!!” But that doesn’t make any sense. To have a free will choice, the choice has to be clear. The choice isn’t clear if you don’t even know whether or not such a being exists. Free will could only be involved if you had knowledge upon which to make a choice. Worse yet, we don’t choose what to believe in. I didn’t make a free will choice to believe in gravity, nor did I choose to disbelieve in Santa. Our beliefs are formed subconsciously based on our experience. So the free will argument as to why god doesn’t show himself is bogus on multiple counts.

Another retort is “but he DOES show himself. You just have to be in tune to it…”. If that’s true, then god is not very smart. He wants me to believe, but is incapable of showing himself in a straightforward way that my puny mind can deal with!? …so much for omnipotence and omniscience.

The conclusion then is that if there are any beings worthy of being called gods, they are either not interested in us knowing about them, or do not have the ability to make themselves known. In either case, they are irrelevant and the concept is properly dismissed.

Actually others are not better than us but we are no better than then and they are no worse than us that is why we are to love our neighbors as ourselves.

As before, His timing is not our timing. We must show obedience by always praying fervently and know He ALWAYS answers prayer. I know a friend who has been praying for a certain individual for 30 years and he still is.

One little one is when my youngest son wouldn’t come eat at the table when called. This went on for weeks, he’d show minutes into dinner. One afternoon, my oldest and I prayed that ‘A’ would come and eat as soon as we sat down. Before we knew it, he was rounding the corner, and we just looked at each other, smiling.

Three years ago, an elder in our church, and friend asked if I would go with him to pray for a young man in the Billings hospital. He was 19 at the time and had a brain aneurysm while playing basketball, collapsed on the court, then was life flighted there.

He had brain surgery, weeks went by, the doctors said he wouldn’t make it, and that there was nothing more they could do. We arrived (160 mile drive) in the morning after the doctors pulled his drain tubes out of his head the night before. The brain swelling couldn’t be controlled. His loving parents stayed there for the whole time.

We anointed him with oil, prayed for forgiveness, prayed the sinner’s prayer for all to follow in the IC room, and in Jesus name that he would be healed day by day that ‘J.’ would become stronger and stronger.

Two days later, J. was move to a nursing home at home, yes he made the 160 mile trip. He was taken care of by the staff ‘round the clock.

Little by little, tiny incremental changes began and there were times when I went to visit, his dad was pushing him around the grounds in a wheelchair, I offered my hand and said, ‘Good to see you, J.’ He replied, ‘Good to see you, too!’

We have never really met. I’ve not been to see J. for a year. He is home now and his brother is the Terminix guy here and said that J. wants to meet me sometime. He already knew the elder because he had worked for him in high school. There was a write up in our paper about him two weeks ago, that he’s been giving his testimony everywhere he goes, volunteers at NOWCAP, and is driving his same car!

Praises to our Lord and King, is all I can do.

I don’t believe there is any evidence that any gods are real. There are only beliefs based on upbringing and personal experiences.

I would like to point out, however, that we have just seen evidence that some atheists are just as immature and inarticulate as the worst religious zealot. Our reputation is bad enough without having someone make it worse with their foolishness. Knock it off.

See the threads by flossheal, amblessed, silverwings, and those of us who are sold out to the One and only Jesus, Who lives in our heart. He is the only One Who can say that “I AM” for He is the true God who speaks to our heart. He works through us by His Holy Spirit to spread the “Good News.”

First, this is an outrageous statement since true science does not involve prophecy and divination, but hypotheses and theories.

Second, the existence of Jesus in no way fulfills any prophecy, because no prophecy was specifically made about him. Scriptures in books like Isaiah and Daniel are frequently taken out of context and used to support this notion that Jesus was somehow foretold centuries before he lived. In reality, there is no reference to Jesus anywhere in the Old Testament that stands up to textual analysis.

How has God appeared to all men? And the rapture was invented by a pastor in the 19th century. Again, there is not a single verse in the New Testament that specifically describes this event.

Of all the contradictory statements I’ve ever seen, this has to be in the top 5. You say it baffles you that brilliant people can believe in supposedly unprovable issues like evolution, and yet you admit that God himself is not proveable without faith! How do you reconcile these two statements?

Right, so what happens if I ponder God? I end up becoming convinced he doesn’t exist. So personal experience with God is not a sufficient proof of his existence if it doesn’t work for everyone, I.e. it’s not testable or demonstratable.

actually yes, besides the miracles in my life they have proven the stories in the bible true,,, for example the story of when the sea was parted … they have actually found evidence of things like pots and horses and people ,, there is evidence

Confusedgirl, they have not found the items you refer to. The guy who made those claims, Ron Wyatt, was a charlatan who claimed to have found such evidence, as well as finding Noah’s Ark, the ark of the covenant, the spot where moses spoke to god, and many other such claims.

He refused to share his evidence with anyone, and others who independently investigated his claims found them to be without any merit at all.

I know this guy that said he saw God and talked to him. He used to do a lot of LSD though.

And another in our church, who is near 60, wants to legalize weed, by getting “closer” to god. We cannot have Jesus and… fill in the blank, Jesus plus something else. Only Him, we cannot worship Him and something else.

He becomes real when we rely totally on Him. Evidence abounds by the threads of followers of Christ!

In the hierarchy of God’s will for ranking it is: 1)Him

2. spouse
3. kids
4. friends
5. job/career

and we put ourselves last. Seeing that others are better than us.

The Bible. The world. The year. Actual happenings. [:

yes. Nothing finite can be infinite (eternal). Since the universe is made of finite things (matter, time, space), it therefor must be created by something without time (timeless), thus making it eternal. If it is eternal, it must be infinite, and if its the Creator, it must be God.

The universe changes, and time is the measure of change. How many changes have happened before right now? If you claim an infinite number of changes (which is impossible because you can not have an infinite amount of finite things), it is a logically impossible to conclude we could ever have reached this moment in time. In a world of cause and effect (which we live in), there can not be an infinite regress (an infinite amount of cause and effect reactions to get to a certain cause).

Allow me to rephrase. Imagine that the Earth orbits the sun every 365 days (it does). Now, on Mars, a year is much longer than an Earth year, being 687 Earth days (basically double). So, for every 2 years of Mars, Earth has circled the sun approximately 4 times. Now, imagine that this has been going on for eternity. By your logic, they would both have circled the sun the exact same amount of times, because its been going on forever (this is clearly impossible). This shows the impossibility of an infinite regress, whereby there could not have been an infinite amount of (x) before right now, in a finite universe based on time.

Now, back to God. God exists outside of time, in Eternity. God created time, and time is irrelevant to Him. God is Eternal, not created. Firstly, you have 2 choices; either everything came from nothing (which is impossible), or something always existed and created us. You have no other choice. Take a moment to think about that, remembering that it can not exist in time, that would be impossible. Time can not be eternal.

This thing that always existed would be considered Eternal, having transcended time, space, and matter, being everlasting, having always existed. If you argue this is impossible, I would argue the contrary; it is impossible for this Eternal ‘thing’ to not exist, because the alternative is that nothing existed, which could only produce nothing. So, something always existed, and is therefor Eternal.

Now, for something to be Eternal, it can not consist of time, because time must have had a beginning. We exist in a universe of causality, so an infinite regress is impossible; there could not have been an infinite amount of time before right now, because we never would have reached this moment in time. That means time had a beginning, and whatever created time exists without time, beyond time, in timelessness; Eternity.

So, this Eternal Creator, created time, and the universe. This Eternal Creator clearly is extremely powerful, because the energy of the trillions of stars in the known universe were created by this Creator. And obviously, the Creator is extremely intelligent, having created an intelligent being such as mankind and a world in which to populate with it.

YES ! - He lives in my heart - this is what I know to be true: God being pure cannot even look upon sin - man, even in his very best state is a sinner - on judgement day, either: your sins are covered by the blood-shed sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross (salvation and only salvation - being a nice person isn’t good enough - even at our very best, we are but filthy rags), and remembered no more or they are not (your sins are not covered) - where God’s great love comes into play is, He provided a WAY (Jesus) for us not to perish and live in Heaven with Him (He certainly didn’t have to do this but did because He loved us so) - if you read carefully John 3:16, this is exactly what it says - each person will either accept or reject, you must decide for yourself and yes, it’s so important, it has eternal consequences - He Loves you and wants you to accept God’s free gift to man - Jesus…Hope this helps !!

Name one, just one, scientist who came to earth as the fulfillment of hundreds of prophecies, then died to save mankind from their sins, and then rose from the dead after three days, proving His divinity! There is not one. The Bible has been tested through centuries and has never been disproved. It should be the most revered volume of scientific study that exists.

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works” (Titus 2:11-14).

Notice what the text of Scripture says, “… has appeared to all men,”. Not only has God appeared to all men, but His son Jesus Christ is coming again to rapture (catch up) those who have given their hearts to Him. While we wait for His second coming “we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ”…Hope this helps you !
