You’re right on that. All you have to do is when you go to a mall is just look at all the kids with sodas or junk food…as a nation we just eat poorly and the portions served now are freakin huge!

Answer #6

It’s just non if it is healthy. I think all fast food places should just be salad places honestly. .-.

Answer #7

The experts are concerned for many reasons. One major reason is that much of our fruit and veggies are imported from countries that still use pesticides that are banned here in the U.S., like DDT and it isnt being effectively inspected before it crosses the border. Another reason is for GMs (genetically modified organisms). Most of our non-organic fruit & veggies are genetically modified, usually to resist the effects of pesticides. This allows the farmer to put copious amounts on the fields, killing the weeds but not killing the money crop. Crops like celery and lettuce have vast amounts of pesticide between the stems or leaves from applications while the plant was growing, making it very hard to wash it all off. Most people think that washing the outside is good enough, it is not. Some GMOs use a gene from a bacteria that produces pesticides from inside the plant. There is no way to wash that pesticide off, it is inherently part of the plant.

The concern is that there is no labeling of crops to tell the modified from the non-modified food AND we don’t yet know what negative effect these GMOs will have on the health and well being of those who eat them for long periods of time.

None of these GMOs are tested by the FDA for safety, the manufacturing company does their own testing and the results are taken at face value. Pigs that have been fed GMO corn are now becoming sterile, which is a major concern for pig farmers. If it has that affect on pigs what is it doing to the human body?

Answer #8

The gov wants to control everything

Answer #9

That’s horrible. I think it’s partially the parents’ fault. I remember when I was younger, eating McDonald’s or any sort of junk food was a treat for if I was good. Now, kids eat junk all the time.

Answer #11

There are growing links that what we put into our production animals, ground, and sea has a correlation to our health. Other countries and our importing of food. The alarming rate of diabetes, our immunity to antibiotics, cancer, etc.

Answer #12

I’m not quite sure either because no matter how fat and stupid Americans get they still live well into there 80’s. If people don’t understand that eating loads of greasy fat is bad for them we should honestly stop trying to save them. Just let them be fat and die of a massive stroke or coronary and tell the “experts” to mind their own business.
