How do I deal with my friends pressuring me to drink, smoke and do drugs with them?

I am 14 and so are my friends. They have been doing it for a few nonths now and have even had sex while they were drinking. My friends say I should try it and they tease me about it. The bad thing is that Im starting to consider it! :( What do I do?

Answer #1

Tell them that you are not willing to risk ruining your whole life, and you would rather that they didn’t risk it either.

If they are not willing to accept your own wishes (at least insofar as your own abstinence) , maybe you should find other friends with whom you are more compatible.

If only all young people could be as sensible as you - the world would be a much better place.

If It’s your choice to smoke than go ahead…but think about the risks. If you do not, then say “NO” and move on. If they keep pressuring you they are not real friends(:

dont do it be the stronger person and if they are pressuring u to do that they arent your friends. Friends are supose to keep u on the right track not throw u off.

Answer #5

Honestly, true friends wouldn’t try to pressure you. Friends should be supportive of each other and if they are going to tease you and make you feel bad about being responsible, maybe its time to get some new friends. The decision to drink/smoke/sex should always be your own and not be influenced by others.

Answer #6

Thats crazy.Don’t do any of that bad stuff especially drugs it can get you put away for a long time in the slammer.I would just find a new group of friends, because most likely those people are going to turn out to be nobody and if you follow their act then you will lead the same life.

Answer #7

You gotta realize that all your life youll have to deal with people pressuring you to do things like this…the more you resist them, the easier itll get to say no. Also, think about the consequences. You could always watch a show about addictuon (like intervention) or a show about pregnancy (like teen mom) to give yourself a better look at what could happen because sometimes things have a bigger impact on you if you see them firsthand instead of just hearing about them.

Answer #8

if you feel pressured by those friends, tell them you don’t want to do those things. make new friends that have the same values as you so you wont feel like you need to do certain things for a friendship.

Answer #9

You say No. Honestly, it’s that simple

Answer #10

im ganna say they are your friends and that you have to keep in mind the are drinking and have changed alot. my friends drink and used to pressure me the key is not to. just say your not in to it dont say they shouldnt because as soon as you tell them not to your just as bad as them trying to change them. all i can say is dont try to change your friends. at the same time keep a strong head. cause every group of party guys need a driver^_^ good luck

Answer #11

Answer #12

Answer #13

Answer #14

well i would agree with you about the sex but doing drugs hasnt and wont ruin my life. if anything it has opened my mind to other things. it all started with the stupid people in the early 1900’s that claimed smoking cannabis would cause you to lose your mind and go crazy for hours and hours. lies, yes certain drugs can and will ruin your life, if you let them. crack cocaine heroin meth ecstasy will ruin your life. cannabis, which mind you, was grown and not man made will not ruin your life. same with mushrooms, grown in nature, on this beautiful planet earth, will not ruin your life. you have been told lies like everyone else in this world that all drugs will ruin your life. but your wrong, only certain ones will. you just have to be smart. in my honest opinion the world would be a lot better of a place if we all just smoked cannabis and chilled together.

Answer #15

You can believe what you like, but I choose to believe the hard medical evidence.

I quote the following

“… Studies have revealed that the two million regular cannabis smokers in Britain are more likely to develop schizophrenia or depression than non-smokers. Research has also discovered that cannabis usage in adolescence can act as a precursor for mental health problems later in life and researchers in Australia have reported that regular smokers are five times more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety in later years. There is clearly a worrying correlation between cannabis and mental illness. …” The Perry Clayman Project -(UK Drug Rehab and Alcohol Rehabilitation) website at:

I hope your habit does not cause or worsen any serious mental problems, later in your life.
