Carpal Tunnel

I may have to get surgery for my carpal tunnel. It’s so bad that my ulnar nerve is being affected. My dad had the same surgery when I was younger but went back to work the next day. Has anyone had any bad experiences/ good experiences?? I’m scared. It’s the hand I write with and it’s an urgent matter.

I had surgery done on both hands about 10 years ago. They first did one, then several weeks later the other. I was released to go back to work the day after surgery - light duty. (If you have a job that is very dirty or very stressful on the area operated on, a weeks recovery might be needed. Talk to your doctor about any concerns.) The pain and numbness I had before the surgery is now gone. All functions remain the same. (Incidentally, the doctor making the original determination said that I was within a month or two of getting muscle death to both of my thumbs!!) So don’t put it off too long.

The operation was done under a local, and didn’t take long, and was painless. You can use (in my case) the hand very quickly, although it took about two weeks for full recovery.

Any other concerns, feel free to FunMail me.

Take care and Good Luck!!
