How can I train my puppy not to be so vicious?

I have a 9 month old great Dane belgium shepard cross!

She has started to act really vicious around (I’m not racist!!!) black people and other dogs, it’s getting so we can’t take her out for fear she might bite someone!

Can anyone help me as I am at a loss as to what I should do!

I’m in agreement with ichibanarky…this dog NEEDS an obedieance class, or a private trainer (not one that you “send” the dog to, but one where YOU arer getting trained right along with the dog)…

This dog sounds “fearful” to me…some dogs are simply born that way…and need obedience (even just the basics…sit, down, stay…heel)…Learning and pleasing it’s mistress builds confidence in the dog.

A Great Dane/Belguim Shep is not a small dog…at 9 months she’s still a puppy and “workable”…so you’re going to have to to control of her now, or it will never happen. A fearful, LARGE dog is a lawsuit waiting to happen…

You are going to have to work with her everyday…and don’t forget play…Play takes the stink out of a pup, and steadies the nerves…basically a tired dog is a good dog…in this case…a tired dog is a better dog.

Can you afford an obedience school for her?

She may be acting out of a trauma that has happened to her earlier in her life, or perhaps she thinks she’s being protective

Either way, she needs to be properly disciplined before she gets really out of hand

Make sure she is being punished for her vicious behaviour and rewarded for the good…

if I were you, I would find a local dog trainer to stop that, my puppy never did that, when we got her she was 3 months old and abused, the family had a grandson that beat her in a way that 3 year olds arent supposed to do and if they do then they need to be told no but apparentally he wasnt so, she had been attacked by other dogs~bigger dogs, so shes a little dog aggressive but we dont have any other dogs, so thats okay

Answer #4

get her into a class, start to bring her to other dogs in a controlled situation (did you socialize her at a young age?) Dogs need to be around other dogs and lots of different kids of people.

Use a muzzle as well - you wouldn’t want your dogto have to be put down because you didn’t take all the necessary steps to change the bad behaviour and educate her

Answer #5

Made sure you muzzle her around strangers and when she is out. Dogs act by scent not color. They are not color biased.

You need to make sure you are getting the right training to handle your dog. You can send emotion and fear to your dog without even realizing you are doing it. So if now you are afraid your dog is going to act a certain way you may project this to your dog. Believe me I know you are not trying to but it is hard to mask over our emotions to our dogs.

So please take extra caution with crating your dog in the house when strangers are there. Muzzle when you are in a car, Vet or on a walk. Listen to the advise above and get into a Training School

first you should put her on a leash when you see she’s getting aggrevated. when she starts showing signs yank a little on her leash and say no! then turn her in the opposite direction and walk away for a couple of seconds..each time she shows aggressive behavior do this repetitively, It will take several attempts of this to get her to understand she’s doing something wrong and she should change. the key to this is being consistant . remember she looks to you to tell her what to do.
