Bedtimes

I am 13 and go to be between half eight and nine. It is really early and I dont usually feel tired. My mum always makes me go to bed then and she usually goes to bed then too! All my friends go to bed later but however much I try to pursuade my mum she wont change her mind! HELP

Most peoples bodies are different cause some that stay up later than most can handle being fully awake while most people can’t cause they’re not use to it and she is making you go to bed at that time well cause it’s the normal time for a girl your age,I went to bed at 8:00pm when I was 13 until 14 1/2. If you feel you can stay awake in class without falling asleep at anytime or for any other reason,try and compromise with your mom about changing your bed time.

Try working on steadily increasing the time you go to bed. EX: If you go to bed at 8:00, start going to bed at 8:02. Then, work your way up to a later time.

Just wait until she falls asleep. My mum always used to let me stay up and do whatever and if she saw that I was up at like 12 she would just say make sure you go to bed soon, and not get mad. It might be best to listen to her though because you might feel tired the next day since you are used to going to bed that early.

Just because you are in bed, does not mean you have to go to sleep right away. Buy a book light and read at night before you go to bed. Reading is a relaxing acticity that will not keep you awake longer than you need to be anyways.

Explain that your never tired and everyone else your age gets to stay up later and it doesn’t make them grumpy or anything. If she still says no then compromise, you could go to bed at half 9 :S Or if that fails then just go to your room and do something till you feel tired.
