~was raised by a Catholic mother and Anglican father ~was given unbiased information on different religions ~was encouraged to chose my own religion and not let others influence me ~researched and dabbled in different religions for 12 years ~have a vast social circle of people with many religions, cultures, denominations, etc

Basically in shorter words..it means you don’t believe in any god or after-life as such. I heard many say it’s not a religion. However I’m not going to get into now.

Speaking of typical, lex_icon, it’s also typical of some people to verbally try and rip them to shreds. He said,”Open your eyes”. Maybe he coud have put it more comprehensively, like, consider logically the probability of the wonder of all this mind-blowing, intricate, micro- and macro-scopic creation, organic and inorganic; stars, galaxies, atoms, radiation, nuclear fission, you name it; the fact that each life form depends on another, coexists in balance and harmony, the very fact that you and I have the capacity to wonder at it (some of us sadly don’t develop that capacity very far) and then tell me that it is all completely inconsequencial, impersonal, meaningless, just a “mistake” of the “cosmos” which will one day disappear into nothing again when humans destroy each other and the planet, etc. … and I’ll tell you that you actually haven’t done that much thinking or feeling, or being one with the universe or in touch with your spirituality.

I happen tobelieve also that science and religion are not in conflict - well, at eastless so than current modern science and the theory of evolution. Just look at the work of a few scientists such as Dr Michael Behe, who has developed the theory ofintlligent design which basically says,some life forms are so complex that there is no way they mutated into that by random chance. They MUST have been designed and made, as an integral unit, and placed in the specific environment which supports them.

Of course they are unpopular. They are challenging the status quo. Universities need to support the popular philosophy of evolution to obtain funding, and to kind of not rock the boat too much. But hey - what do I know?

TYPICAL, many religious people ALWAYS make this mistake.

Atheists don’t necessarily believe in nothing, you can still be an atheist and believe in something like evolution.

So usually they have opened their eyes, and realised that the idea of a god just doesn’t make sense and cannot be proven…that is why it is called BELIEVING in god.

Clearly you need religion. Some of us choose science, logic and reason. These things have been proven and demonstrated in experiments which can be replicated. I don’t need to ‘believe’ in anything, especially when I have knowledge. I opened my eyes and ears to religion, and found it to be full of contradictions, false logistics, unspeakable atrocities. Perhaps it’s you who needs to open your eyes to the facts?

Clearly you need to start THINKING, instead of spouting cliche theistic statements. Telling people to ‘open your eyes’ is pointless and arrogant. You’re basically telling people who don’t believe what YOU believe, that they suffer some sort of handicap. Its that sort of self-serving-superior mentality that makes people NOT want to be theistic in the first place.
