Are you agree if a Priest have wife?

Are you agree if a Priest have wife?…if yes/no why?… tnx… :)

Answer #1

If your referring to the Catholic Preast, I agree that they should have wives. I don’t know much about the faith, but, a preast should be married. So, I don’t feel that their is nothing wrong with having a wife.

Answer #2

Based on my reading of the New Testament, I believe that no Christian (male or female) should marry. Rather, they should purify themselves and seek the Kingdom. This is based mainly on the life of Jesus and the teachings of Paul.

As for my personal view, priests should be able to marry if they choose so they can really know how to guide couples who are struggling.

Answer #3

The Christian bible does not forbid a priest to have a wife, in fact, it encourages it, esp. if that person has lust in his heart… so that he is not continually under attack from the evil one.

With marriage, he/she has an outlet for their sexuality, rather than having to pretend it is not there.

We were all created with sexual desire, that is a God given thing that is good.

However, Satan perverts it… and one of the multitudes of ways that he does this, is to forbid a priest to marry… therefore, dooming him to a lifetime of trying to deny sexual urges.

God never intended for us to deny what he gave to us, just to learn how to control it, his way.

Answer #4

No where in the Bible is it found that marriage should be prohibited for priest. . As a matter of fact the governing officials of the Church are to have wifes and Children.

Therefore, an elder must be blameless, the husband of one wife, stable, sensible, respectable, a lover of strangers, and teachable. (1Ti 3:2 ISV)

Deacons must be husbands of one wife and must manage their children and their families well. (1Ti 3:12 ISV)

And examples of Priest in the old testament had wifes and Children The New Testament Priest is actually a referance to ALL Christians as a priesthood not a chosen set of men set forth by men.

1Pe 2:4-9 ISV As you come to him, the living stone who was rejected by people but was chosen and precious in God’s sight, (5) you, too, as living stones, are building yourselves up into a spiritual house and a holy priesthood, so that you may offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (6) This is why it says in Scripture: “Look! I am laying a chosen and precious cornerstone in Zion. The one who believes in him will never be ashamed.” (7) Therefore he is precious to you who believe, but to those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone, (8) a stone they stumble over and a rock they trip on.” They keep on stumbling because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. (9) But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people to be his very own and to proclaim the wonderful deeds of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

The Church is to be governed by a group elected from the membership of those who qualify not a priesthood. an evangelist or minister is actually someone in the employment of the Church not someone who Governs the church so the concept of a governing priesthood in the new testament church is actually non Scriptural. and no where are the forbidden to marry.

Answer #5

If you study the history of that prohibition, you’ll discover it resulted from an attempt to close a loophole, whereby men were becoming priests simply for the land benefits that came with it, so they could pass on an inheritence to their kids.

Since the church no longer hands out land rights to priests, it seems kind of silly to maintain that dictate. But what do I care?

Answer #6

thank you, kloaiza. where does it say sex is bad in the bible? as I recall, God commands everyone to multiply and replenish the earth. that means MORE sex, not less.

Answer #7

I think it depends on their beliefs. I’m mormon, and we’re FOR our priests being married. catholics are AGAINST priests being married. why would we try to change what anyone believes? let them do what they want.

Answer #8

I think they should be able to marry just because they’re priest doesn’t mean they shouldn’t know what love feels like. They have to give advice to couples getting married and wed them when they don’t know what it feels like.

Answer #9

It is not bad in the eyes of God if you have sexual intercourse if you are married. Marriage is a holy union. If you are married, no matter who you are, sex is ok in God’s eyes.

Answer #10

I think they should be able to marry, because they will have first hand expierence when it comes to guiding us when we go to them for help and advise!

Answer #11

Perhaps if priests had a healthy normal sex life there wouldn’ be so many cases of them sexually abusing children. Also, I know of preists who quit their preisthood so they could marry. Seems like an unreasonable job requirement to me.

Answer #12

I agree with kisses1997. As a former Catholic I think that if a priest is supposed to give marital advice and counseling, he should know what he’s talking about. I know s*it about football so should I give advise to the quarterback on how to play? No, neither should a priest. The Catholics view marriage as a sacrament, so why shouldn’t a priest who is supposed to lead the congregation make every sacrament he can?

Answer #13

I believe that everyone should have the right to marry, if they so desire.

I do not believe that priests become pedophiles because they don’t have a normal sex life… If that were the case, nuns would also be part of this problem.

Answer #14

I think the reason why many priest shouldn’t marry, it is because if they marry a woman, of course they will have a sexual intercourse( I think thats not good in the eyes of God)… sorry but I still confuse) …

Answer #15

ermical; Why do you think sexual intercourse is bad?

Answer #16

Yes what difference does it make. I am catholic but some of our priest arent allowed to get married. I wonder why!

Answer #17

yes… why not.
