What do you think of the skateboarding priest?

Some people think he’s doing a great service by making religion more interesting to a younger group, while others think that it’s all a hype and he is failing to promote the true word. What’s your thought?

hey, if a priest can skate.. good for him! wish i could do that. but how he can do that in his big ole coat, i have no idea. i know i would biff it!! lol.

I think it’s great that he’s trying to make religion more interesting to younger people, but I don’t quite see how skateboarding relates to religion. So to me it seems like he’d giving the wrong message, and that by skateboarding, he’s doing nothing but making the younger crowd like HIM more personally. o_O

At the end of the day people do not go to church because a priest seems interesting – they go because of their beliefs in God. The fact that he skateboards does not make God or religion more interesting, in my opinion. So I don’t quite see what he believes he’ll achieve by this. Is he going to take his skateboard in church? lol.

skating might not bring people to believe in God by itself, but maybe kids who see this priest skating will wonder if his church is a sweet place to go and check it out for themselves. then they receive the message when theyre at church. i know the churches ive been to (and ive been to 3 in the past year) all have some activities that arent strictly “religious” ya know what i mean? we have plays, we go to corn mazes, we have all-nighters, we burn things…we get kinda crazy lol. and all the kids invite their friends to come to those activities, and then those kids who dont go to church but who came, they come back. so maybe thats what this priest is trying to do is get peole interested and come to his church or something. or maybe he’s just doing it for fun, who knows?

oh! and have you heard of the basement? dang, its a pretty sweet deal. matt pitt is the founder, and i dont know too much about it, but they travel around, and its a pretty huge deal now, and they dance and act, have tons of upbeat music, it gets pretty intense. ive actually never been to the basement, but i want to go really badly. its all God, but its crazy cool at the same time.
