Unfortunately a lot of the Americans originated from Europe in the early times. The ones that lives through those early times are the ones their bodies store fat when the weather is tough or when they’re stressed. (ie in danger of dying or stave to death) You can trick your brain that you don’t need those extra pounds but it takes a lot of work and it all comes back soon if you stop working on it after a while. Some people are just born with high metabolism and won’t gain a pound eating KFC all day for a month. Some will still stay fat eating vegetables all day because their body is telling them the energy count is low and storing energy is needed.

After all it’s about the balance. How much work are you willing to put into it and how much time are you willing to spend to maintain it.

You’ll probably hate me but I tried gaining weight once by eating 5k cal of meat/carb a day and taking another 3k cal chocolate and work out everyday and taking whey. (protein drink) And ended up losing 5lb after two weeks.

Oh ya, avoid carbs and take on more proteins if you are trying to get toned. That means eat less bread and eat more meat… Eat small but frequent meals through out the day, that’ll keep your metabolism higher.

Burning more calories than you consume each day is the only way to lose weight. And the way you burn calories is by doing aerobic/ cardio exercise. Aerobics are the kinds of things that get your heart pumping. (Such as running, swimming, jumping) And you want your heart to be pumping pretty fast for at least 20 minutes per day. (Or if you don’t usually exercise, maybe 20 minutes every other day to get started.)

Then you want to tone muscle. This is where the crunches come in. I always do as many as I feel I can do without hurting myself, then 5 more. Try different arrangements of crunches, too, to target different angles of your abdominals. (Bicycle crunches, do some with your legs bent at the knee and your feet sticking out, parallel to the ground. Also try moving your knees and your shoulders up at the same time to create a double-crunch sort of thing.

Watching what you eat: It’s not just watching, but you have to really commit. Don’t eat empty calories ( stuff that has calories, but no nutrition) like sugar. Pop is probably the worst thing possible to consume. Drink lots of water. Water helps because it washes unwanted toxins from the body, also most of Americans are dehydrated. We’re supposed to have at least 8 cups of water per day. Eat lean cuts of meat. Eat small portions at mealtimes and if you’re hungry in between, drink a glass of water and sit for 20 minutes. If you’re still hungry, eat fruits and veggies or low fat yogurt or something.

Good luck. I know it’s cheesey, but have confidence in yourself do the stuff you need to to lose weight.
