Why should be care about Haiti?

I mean honestly? We are in debt, big time. I think we should worry about ourselfs for once, Haiti is an unneeded country, no use for it. Its going to die soon anyways . When Katrina hit, I didnt hear about it like they are with this INSIGNIFICANT county. I think people need to get over it and focus on America. It is a third world country that does not have the resources to rebuild on their own, so if it happens again, are we going to go to their rescue again? Yes im greedy and yes im selfish :) I dont care, I am VERY fortunate to have everything I need and more, but I dont see the point in helping a useless country, not like they have EVER done anything for us.

{yes im prepared to be trashed} lmao.

Answer #1

I totally f#cking agree with you. I have the same point of view as you!

Answer #2

Well yeah because you have people who are starving here and homeless here, And yes I do feel bad for them but im not donating.

Answer #3

Yes! Finally someone agrees with me. In short, we shouldn’t. But we would look bad if we didn’t help out, like the same way we didn’t help out back in ‘94 with the genocide we just got our people out.

Answer #4

I do feel bad for them and if I had a little more money after I got done donating to all of the starving and homeless people in the US. I feel bad for the people in hatie. But I also know that there are a lot of people here that need help too.

Answer #5

I kind of agree with you. I naturally can be pretty selfish at times too but hey, we have our own problems we need to worry about right now. I kinda thought I was the only one who felt that way. Glad to know I’m not

Answer #6

Well what you wrote isn’t exactly unreasonable. But I take it from your opening post that you’d prefer to help people in your own country? In terms of behaving in a ethical or a morally good way, shouldn’t those who are experiencing the greatest suffering and need come first? Why should those people that by accident of birth happen to have been born in the imaginary political borders of the USA take precedence? Basically your argument seems to be that Haiti is a third world country, therefore the human beings that reside within, with their aspirations, hopes and capacity for suffering just like yours, don’t matter.
