Why are piercing guns unsanitary?

Why are piercing guns unsanitary? For ears only. Is the infection rate higher? I got my ears pierced at Claires with a gun and it got infected. Is that because its a stud? I thought piercing guns are more sanitary than using a needle.

no, pirecings should only ever be donw with a surgical steel needle, they should never be done with the gun here are 3 reasons why they are bad 1.those people aren’t professional piercers’, they have no training, just a course on how to stab a piece of fruit with a gun they have no idea of what can go wrong and were not to pierce 2.the gun is full of germs from other peoples blood because they cant sterilize it 3.also its blunt, which is about as good as shoving a nail through your skin, meaning the area is more likley to get infected and will take longer to heal

Answer #2

Well, they aren’t as clean because a needle is in a sterile little bag and a gun, is not. Piercing Guns can NOT be sterilized. Some of the newer equipment uses a sterile, self-contained stud, which is all well and good, but the gun itself still can not be sterilized and can become contaminated with blood or bodily fluid when it comes in contact with the ear before or after the actual piercing on the person before you that got it done. Needles are much more sanitary and much better to get pierced with, with any piercing.
