why don't muslim people eat swine?

It’s not really just about being “distinguished”…not eating pork is not a tradition carried from one generation to another or anything of the like..eating of pork is FORBIDDEN in the Islamic religion just like in the Jewish.It is not a matter of taste or a choice taken by a certain culture. It is ratherCLEARLY stated in the Quraan (the Islamic Holy book) that eating swine is not allowed and of course believers in Islam (just like myself) also believe that whatever God has planned for us will definitely end up being for our own good. Swine are dirty animals beacsue- as Ichi said- they do eat their own stool and studies DO show that eating pork is full of hazards and is totally unhealthy. God has his plans for us to live happily and totally healthy. All we need to do is accept Him in our hearts. :)

Uhm right, what ichi said. I dunno, it probably was passed down from the Jewish tradition of not eating pork.

Pigs have been known to ingest anything - including excrement, and because of that, are thought to be carriers of disease.

Anthropologists promote the idea that food taboos usually come about because a group wants to distinguish itself from some other group that eats a lot of that food. Arabs in general (not just Jews and Muslims) have a taboo against pork. This probably came about to distinguish themselves from northern people who would have consumed a lot of pork because pigs do well in cooler climates.

Eating swine can cause ‘Measles.’

Muslims didn’t copy the Jews,if that’s what you mean.
