criptokid88, or could men just be women with shorter hair and different reproductive organs…

These are the questions that haunt me…

Answer #8

He is viewed as male because in the bible he is referred to as Father, King, Lord…etc. but, God is not human so God is not male or female just God.

Answer #9

Well if you believe in God and the bible, the bible refers to God as a He.

Answer #10

I don’t believe in God, nor even the concept of God, but if I did, I would have to view him as a sort of “king’…therefore, I refer to the idea of God as a male.

Answer #11

They assume is, because the Bible says God is a male. God is referred to as:

He not She Father not Mother Lord not Lady God not Goddess

The Bible was written in a male-dominant time period, by male-dominant men. I think if a creator omnipresent ethereal being exists, it is NEITHER male of female. If you think about it objectively, a god would have no need for sex organs.

Answer #12

it says it in the bible “god the father “

Answer #13

we are all created in gods imadge.

so to you god is female. to a man god will be a man. interpate god to be what ever sexd you wish love.

Answer #14

Actually, there is a well-established and still-growing movement called ‘feminist theology’ - sometimes even spelled thealogy (theas is feminine, theos masculine) and the highly reputed publishing house SAGE even has a journal called Feminist Theology.

You can check it out at womenshistory.about.com/od/feministtheology/Feminist_Theology_and_Spirituality

among other sites. And the Wikipedia article isn’t bad either.

Answer #15

My understanding, the ancient Hebrew word for God was “Elohim” which is actually plural and not singular. There are many other names for God but most of those refer to a character trait. Elohim suggests that God is more than one. Later in the bible it explains that God has always existed with the Holy Spirit and preincarnate Jesus. God is referred to as “He” because that is the literary use for the word, not because he is a male. He is not a man. When He created people, He said, “Let’s create them in our image.” Man refers to mankind, not men. God is neither male nor female.

Answer #16

Jesus throughout the New Testament refers to his “Father”…kind of speaks for itself!!

Answer #17

By the way, I don’t believe in God, I am an atheist, but I have gone to catholic schools all my life, I had the stuff drummed into me… but now I am glad that I do because I know that I am an atheist now, because I have experiences Christianity as well.

:)

when all three monotheistic books were translated the literal word translated into a masculine word. I think in all three beliefs (Judaism Christianity and Islam) agree that God doesnt have an actual gender(correct me if im wrong please). I think the issue is that of translation problems…

Answer #22

Bible,Quran, etc, all refer to God as,’He’ and ‘Him’. As in the masculine gender existed but God created another one:the female gender.

Answer #23

he is a man.. anyways… that’s what my belief is :}

Answer #24

Per the Bible God is spirit both male and female. However for us to relate and because God knows that a hiarchy system is what we humans can relate to, He lays it out that way. First Adam then a helper Eve etc, etc. But very important to realize if you read God’s word it becomes very clear that He gave women and men different gifts and we are equal in His eyes and we should be in ours.
