Why do dogs eat their own poop?

why do dogs eat there own poop?

Answer #1

there are a thousand opinions of why they do this…ranging from nutritional needs to watching their mom’s clean up after them…but nobody knows for sure.

I’d try a good quality dog food first, just incase it might be nutritional…tho Iams is not rated high…Eagle Pack Holistic, is however, and is very nutritional.

My dogs dont…at all, ever. Some dogs do because they’re gross…mostly shizus and other dogs do it from my understanding…mostly small dogs.

Answer #3

I don’t really think this is why but maybe there like what the heck is this and they panick and end up eating it, but I think they need to maintain their breath or something. my dog used too and not anymore. Also I saw a baby chihuahua poop in it’s cage and then started running in circles around it then, it scwat down and looked right to left and took a big chunk out of it’s poop.

Answer #4

it tastes like chicken.. DUH!!

Answer #5

lol good question. my dog used to do that. it could be because your dog is hungry.

also… apparently poop has a lot of nutrition in it too. but don’t worry. my dog stopped eating her poop after a while…

oh and you might wanna pick it up right after she poops if possible. god knows I was too lazy.

Answer #6

They need to maintain their fresh breath.

Answer #7
