Why did the 'Diplomacy' workers resist deployment ?

IRAQ: Diplomacy is the answer, not war, right? So why’d State Department diplomats fight Iraq postings?

Answer #1

Because the Blackwater guys, apparently, can murder anybody they want while there, and can’t be held accountable in the US for their crimes.

If a fellow citizen of my country could kill me overseas, and not pay the ultimate price in the county where we both live…you’d better believe any sane individual would fight such an assignment.

Where I live (California) you kill somebody, you pay the price. In Iraq, other American citizens working for Blackwater have a license to kill. Would you trust such a post? Not if you value your life :)

LOL…diplomats are human beings too. I am sure nobody would want to put their families in danger or themselves for that matter .Being posted in a place like Iraq is dangerous for most foreign missions and ESPECIALLY the US. Diplomats need a certain degree of freedom to carry out their jobs well and it is hard to do that in a country where they are constantly under pressure. Not only are US citizens made targets,Pro- US iraqians are too.Iraqian people who work in the US embassy face potential danger also. How much more would US diplomats be in?They are people directly responsible for carrying out Washingtons policies in iraq.If there is a good place to bomb just to get back at the US that would be the US embassy, where these poor diplomats have to work.I trust they are just too smart to take such a risk. So it’s either you send brave men or someone whos got nothing to lose there.
