Is this good strategy?

Continue to oppose military spending, military deployments, and the development of military equipment, but tell everyone how much you love and support the troops - Question is twofold: 1) Can this stratedgy work and 2) Is it being actively used today ?

Answer #1

If honoring our troops is the key than the focus should be on the troops. Give them more time off between rotations, better pay so serving isn’t such a sacrifice for their families, better health care for veterins, more disability pay for those disabled etc.

Many of the same people who frequently offer empty platitudes to our troops also vote against everything that would actually help them.

Answer #2

Continue to oppose military spending?

The last time I checked, we were cutting art and music programs in schools, aid to senior citizens, and local police forces to pay for military spending. So no, it’s not being actively used. The government is pouring our resources into this war in Iraq, a country that had no weapons of mass destruction and was not (and IS NOT) harboring bin Laden, the person responsible for 9/11.

So, I would think it would be an effective strategy to being spending our money on things that matter, such as education, instead of the war. But Bush doesn’t agree.
