Who needs more sleep?

Do teenagers need more sleep than adults? What about older people? My great grandma gets up super early every morning–is it healthy?

Hi,

From my understanding, the people who need the most sleep are infants and toddlers (14-18 hours per day!).

As you grow up into being a teenager and through adulthood 7-8 hours are the recommended amount.

However, I’ve noticed that as people age, they do tend to sleep less and less. My grandmother is up at 5am too…I think it’s normal :)
