First ALL puppies test their voices. At 3 months, give her a toy…or drop keys on the floor…anything to distract her, thn hold your finger to your lips and say ‘shhh’ (very exaggerated). You’ll be doing this every 3 minutes for a few days…then it’ll be every 5 minutes, then every ten…persevere, and pretty soon, you can just ‘shuuush’ her. Always allow a couple of barks for free tho…it’s called a compromise.

If she pees before 1/2 hour has gone by, then get her out every 20 minutes while she’s up and playing. Don’t forget to PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE …make a big whoop t’doo when she goes outside. Even give her a little treat (a puppy kibble will do it)…along with the praise. Some breeds are harder to housetrain than others…the only answer is perseverence…and complete consistancy. Don’t get angry, that’s counter productive. You must be vigilant…don’t give her the run of the house, keep her with you whenever she’s awake. Crate her when she sleeps and when you can’t watch her constantly. I don’t think she knows what it is you want, really.

This is the instructions I give to people who don’t know how to housetrain…if you stick to it, you will have a reliably housetrained dog.

The number one ingredient to have a house trained dog is…VIGILANCE. You must make housetraining your ‘mission in life’ for anywhere from 10 days to two weeks.

Keep slip-on’s by the back door, and a bathrobe or something quick to get into handy…because for this two weeks…housetraining will be your mission.

Your goal is…to beat the puppy to the punch…You’ll learn his signals just by doing all that vigilance…like they’ll start sniffing, and circling…you pick him up and take him out BEFORE he goes…Rules of thumb are also…For puppies, take him out immediately when he wakes up (do not let him follow you to the door…pick him up and carry out the door)…take out immediately after eating. During play a little puppy should be taken out every 20 minutes or so (aren’t you glad they sleep so much?? )

Crate the pup when EVER you cannot watch it (when you leave, or are ultra busy)…instinct is for them to not dirty their nest…so make sure the crate is only big enough to stand up, turn around, etc…A new puppy will need to get out once during the night…but that only lasts a week or so…You don’t want the puppy having to go so bad he dirties his nest…you do NOT want to break that instinctive barrier…once that’s happened it’s hard to undo.

When you get the pup outside…repeatedly say ‘pee pee’ or go pee…then love them up BIG when they go…this will eventually get them to go on command, and save you from having hang out and wait in the future. DO NOT bring him in until he goes…plan on cooling your heels in the beginning.

Make a promise to yourself and to your pup…there will be no punishment for accidents. If the puppy does pee or poop in the house…roll up a newspaper, and hit YOURSELF in the head, repeating the words…I didn’t watch my puppy…

if you have a tiny dog it probably goes potty inside because it is cold wet rainy ect. outside. tiny dogs also mean tiny bladders so it doesn’t take much to make them have to go. potty mats are good for small dogs. they’ll available at any pet store or places that sell pet supplys. you should also go to google and look up doggy potty training tips for ideas on how to improve your potty training techniques. three months old is still a very little puppy and you shouldn’t hit or yell at it. when it does something its not suppose to just point at the mess and in a stern voice tell it no or say bad dog. dogs are a lot smarter than you think and I’m sure your puppy will catch on soon. as for the barking…it’s a puppy its going to bark. you wouldn’t yell at a baby for crying would you?:/

Thanx! And I DONT YELL AT HER! I just say No dont do this and take her outside! Thats what I mean by scowling. Ok people! I Dont yell! Cheese!

Answer #4

First of all, When your pup goes pee inside the house, DON’T yell at her! Your just making her think that she’s not aloud to pee AT ALL. If your puppy is peeing/pooing in the house, Then simply pick her up and take her outside. If she continues to go to the bathroom outside after you put her out there, Then praise and give her a treat. When you take your puppy outside, Wait until she does go. Then praise and treat. Maybe, You should consider puting wee-wee pads(A HUGE napkin thing, Where a puppy goes potty) or puppy training pads and scatter them in your house. Put 1 near the door, Where you take her out to go potty. Good Luck! -Dogluver.
