When is it an employer for an application status?

I have been applying to so many places and no one EVER calls me. I swear it is upseting me so much that I apply to all these places that are hiring and my friends get call right away and I never even get a single call. So I wanna know when is it appropriate to call for a status on an application? Is it even appropriate?

Give it three days after they close the position opening. Calling back is fine, as long as you become a pest.

Maybe you should have one of your friends help you by doing a pretend interview…that’s where you make the good impression…you might be doing a very small thing wrong, but it’s just enough to keep you from getting the job (considering there are a LOT of people looking for work).

I guess it depends what kind of job you’re going for and how long you’ve been waiting. if it’s between 1 week and 3 weeks, call. any less and you run the risk of sounding too desperate, any more and it’ possible they’ve forgotten who you are… My friend filled out 45 applications and handed them her resume and got turned down for every single one; that shit happens sometimes. It’s not forever, the right job will come around soon :)
