What happens when your employer find your criminal background?

Can your employer fire you based on your criminal background if you were never asked about it during your hireing process? And if so, can you collect unemployment?

If you were never asked then you can collect unemployment. Many applications however ask the question on them. If you checked no criminal and then signed it and it is found out the answer was yes you will not be able to collect unemployment.
