Kids in religious schools

over 50% of kids that go to Christian or Catholic schools will grow up not wanting anything to do with god do you agree?

Answer #1

not necessarly but thats just my opinion. I dont really believe in statistics they are just meaningless numbers–people are going to do what they want its just if they feel the bible is being shoved down their throat…I dont know- I dont think this would be true but who knows :)

god bless

Answer #2

Unknown percentage?

That could be .00001%

I doubt very many people freed from the religious chains of there past will ever go back. Have any examples you can provide?

Answer #3

Of all of the people I know who went to catholic school, I would say more than half no longer believe. Not very scientific, but it is true.

Answer #4

Well I used to go to a catholic shool but one I am catholic but two they are much more cleaner and stricter than public schools.

Answer #5

ONe can go to a Christian school, but, that does not make one Christian.

Christian parents mean well, when they try to send their children there, they are

trying to protect them from many of the things that happen in public schools, however,

children, are just like anyone else… they are human… and humans rebel against

things that they do not agree with. So… children.. all children… have to come into

Christianity… just like everyone esle.

For the ones that are not rebellious, and actually believe what they are being taught,

and live by the rules… they are protected from many of the things that the other children have to go thru.

My parents knew about God, but, they did not know him, so, they gave me a head start with faith, but, it stopped there.

Jesus was their savior, but, he was not their Lord, so, they could not teach me, how to fully follow him, I had to learn that on my own…

Along with all the other mistakes I have made in my lifetime.

Most of us… can’t be told what to do, we have to learn it the hard way, I was one of those people. :(

Answer #6

I don’t know. But I’ve been going to a Catholic school and I don’t believe in god anymore.

Answer #7

I know what you mean. There’s a book called ‘How My Faith Survived the Church’. The author (Phillip Yancey) found that church and school upbringing gave him an insight into the worst areas of Christianity, as well as all the good stuff. For a long while he did not know how to reconcile his faith in God with all the hard and unpleasant things he’d learned about how Christians sometimes behave. In the book he looks at key spiritual heroes and heroines (not all of them Christian) and talks about how their lives were the key to keeping his faith in Jesus. So, yes, a lot of people won’t have that living faith, and a church school may not be able to provide it for them.

Answer #8

I dont know if its 50% but no doubt there is a pretty big number of children whos faith has been forced

Answer #9

I know but wasn’t go literally shoved down your throat, and not at your chose?

Answer #10

I doubt the numbers are that high. From what I’ve personally seen, parochial school has little effect one way or the other.

Answer #11

yah I went to a Cristian school until last year, and they make you believe in it they make you seem like theres no other choice, and then you get feed up with it and not want anything to do with it, then you challenge your “faith” and end up where I am right now, confused and have no idea what you believe

Answer #12

An unknown percentage of your 50% will find their faith in God before they take their last breath.
