What should I do my depression is taking over my life!?

I know I’ve been suffering from depression from since the age of about 13. Im 16 now and I’ve never told anyone about it, because I dont feel close enough to anyone to tell them. Im not ready. And its getting worse I want to get medical help in the way of anti depressants anti anxiety ect. But I cant bring myself to tell my doctor. I feel because of my age they wont take me seriously and I’ve no idea what to say. I really need help this is becoming unbearable. I have completely 0 confidence and lose lots of sleep.

You seem like a sweet girl, and your so young, you have your whole life ahead of you! One way I have dealt with depression is to stop thinking about myself and all the thinkgs that are wrong with me. If you take the attention off all the bad things in life and start to think about some good things, (even 1 or 2 things, like your family or friends or your health), then life doesent seem so bad. You have to say no to your brain when it wants to think about bad things. God bless you, I will pray for you to find some inner peace.

Do you know what is making you feel this way? Are there things going on in your life that you are not coping with or are you having problems within your family? Do you feel like you are lacking confidence and do not like yourself? Taking anti-depressants arent always the answer, the first step is finding someone to talk to. You say you’re not close enough to talk to anyone, well there are lots of counsellors available who are well trained in this field and sometimes it is actually easier telling a complete stanger all your problems. The first step would probably be to go to a doctor. Please do not be scared, doctors deal with this all the time. I have had many tragic times in my life when I was’nt coping and I took myself off to the doctor and actually broke down crying while explaining to the doctor what I was feeling and how it was affecting my life. I wasnt sleeping at all and I knew I had to get help. Doctors are there for you and they can recommend counselling and arrange it all for you. There are many people that deal with teenagers and depression so please dont be embarrassed or scared to seek help. If you feel like you have reached the point where you know you must have help then please do it, you have nothing to lose. Step one, is talking about it. step two is finding a way to deal with it. Medication may be necessary and it may not be.
I have seen first hand what depression can do to people so please make an appointment with your doctor and work from there. Things can get better and they will you just have to make that first step. I wish you happiness.

here I wrote this poem yesterday…it seems as tho it would fit in here.

Just because her eyes dont tear,
doesnt mean her heart doesnt cry
                              &
Just because she comes off strong
     Doesnt mean theres nothing wrong

another 1 for u…

im going to smile like nothings wrong, talk like everythings perfect, act like its all a dream, and pretend its not hurting me

the best way is to ask jesus into your life and ill tell ya what if you dont believe in him just give him a chance by listening to God bless the broken road by selah its a 3 minute song just listen to that thats all

Answer #6

ABSOLUTLEY, Jesus CAN FIX IT FOR YOU. In the meantime, try and take the focus off of your problems, and why you arent happy, and see if there is anyone you can HELP today, is there anyone in your life that you can spend some time with, just helping them? Small things dont go unnoticed (doing dishes, cooking, making someone a cuppa) Even if you dont want to, after you have helped someone, you feel a sense of satisfaction, sometimes even joy, sharing yourself and giving is a great way to make yourself happy. I hope you can pull out of this, and I know you will if you really want to.

I am the same.

I attempted suicide earlier this month but my mum walked in.

I’ve been taking a herbal medication called St John of Wart. It has helped me.

It is sold at the super market normally so you dont need a perscrption from your dr. It means that if you dont want to tell anyone you can go out and try this.

Because it is herbal you cant overdose…well you can but its not going to affect your body in horrible ways like normal anti-depressents do if you take to many.

Try it…see if it helps.

Good luck I wish you happyness because being sad isnt worth it.
