What's good way to vent emotionally?
I need a healthy way to vent out my emotions and feel happy like the way I used to be before people messed up my life. Cutting wasn’t very good, but it worked. I just need another way. Btw, I can’t get out the house much so I can’t just take walks and rock climb or whatever. Thanks.
Keeping a diary works great. It doesn’t have to be one of those “Dear Diary… “ kind of things. Just enter a date and what you think and feel at the time you are writing. You can keep that sort of thing right on your computer. Even “lock” the file if you want to with a password. In your life, you are in the driver’s seat. How successful you turn out will be all up to you. Everybody in life gets royally screwed over in realtionships as they are growing up. Unfortunately, that’s just a part of life and we all have to learn to grin and bear it. But by writing our thoughts down over a period of time, we can reflect back on them later on … when we are not so immediately upset about stuff… and we can learn to make our own lives better by doing that. It sorta comes under the heading of learning by our mistakes, and also learning how others have screwed us over in the past so that we don’t ever let that happen to us again.
If you get angry often, putting a rubber band or a hair tie around your wrist, and snap it against your wrist when you are angry. This will soon make your mind believe that anger results in pain.
If you have cut yourself in the past, you need to be careful not to get addicted to this technique.
Art is another way to let out emotions. You don’t have to be good at it, nor do you have to show anybody. Just draw or paint what you are feeling. It can be quite relaxing and therapeutic.
Find a hobby or something you can focus on. It can be anything, from a sport, a craft project, learning a new skill… Focusing your time will keep your mind off negative thoughts.
Hold ice in your hand - gets very painful but does not phsyical harm
