Joel Osteen has a sugar coated presentation of the Gospel that invites those who are not convicted to the Lord, to feel so good about what God will do for them, if they just look within themselves. I have never seen him talk about repentance from sin and asking forgiveness from our Holy God who will forgive and remember our sins no more when we are truly sincere about it.

He is the representative of Jesus Christ. Just as Christ assigned Peter (Rock) as the foundation of the church, the position has been passed down over the centuries. He has many titles, but the simple description is that he is the Shepard for his entire flock of 1.3 billion Catholics. We look to him for guidance. We do not consider him to be a God, Godlike, or a Demigod, simply the person who is best suited to interpret the right way to live and God’s plan for us, therefore closest to God spiritually. Can the Pope Talk to God? sure, just as much as you an I can. I am sure he has a better connection though :) He is also the head of state for the City -State “Vatican City” which is actually a small nation surrounded by Rome

Good points, personally I dont trust religious denominations that are so powerful. Nothing against the Catholics, just the formality that bugs me I guess.

I believe him to be the leader of my Church,the Catholic Church. Not everyone has to believe him to be his religious leader. No one has to convince you of his leadership but strangely enough many people look up to him from different religions and some people like captainassasin don’t and that is fine.
