What is the difference between the Airforce and the Reserves?

Okay. So my question kind of said it all. I would like to know what the difference is between the airforce and the reserves.

Answer #1

Air Force active duty=full time 24 hrs, 7 days a week. You eat breathe and live active duty airforce. Paid 1st and 15th of every month. Benefits included. Active duty deploy all the time and work for the US Government. Separate after approximately 20 years of service. Uniforms are issued and then clothing allowance is used to maintain uniforms.

Air Force Reserve= part time, one weekend two weeks a year. Reserves work for the US Government and can spend as much time if not more time deployed depending on career field. Paid after completed training.

Air Force Air National Guard “drill status guardsmen”= Part time. One weekend a month and two weeks a year. Uniforms provided. Deployment opportunities available. Great for going to college full time.

Air Force Air National Guard “AGR”= Full time like the active duty when it comes to pay and benefits. Plus you still have to work one extra weekend a month without any extra pay. Paid on the 1st and 15th of each month. However you work for the State where the unit is so you don’t permanetly change stations. Deployments are possible because of the increase ops tempo. Separate after approximately 20 years of service. Uniforms are provided.

Air Force Air National Guard “Air Technician” =Full time HOURLY wage job working for the State in which the unit is in. Great medical and dental packages offered. You don’t normally work more than a 40 hour work week because after 40 hours you are entitled to compensation time. Paid every two weeks regardless of the date. Work one weekend a month and two weeks a year for additional pay. Separate when you reach age 50 or 55. Uniforms are provided. Deployments are possible because of high ops tempo.
