Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior - having recognized that all have sinned, are sorry for their sin, and asked for forgiveness and recieved it through the blood of Jesus - His sacrifice on the cross.

Years ago on a BBS (anyone remember them?) I started a discussion about what constitutes the minimum Christian. That are what are the minimum number of tenets that one must believe in order to meaningfully call themselves a Christian.

We came up with:

God created the earth and heavens.

Man sinned and fell from grace.

Jesus came and his sacrifice paid the price for our sin.

You must accept Jesus’ sacrifice to be saved from punishment for sin.

Even within these we found exceptions so we agreed that a minimum Christian believes at least 3 of the 4.

Christians often sum up their religion the Bible passage John 3:16:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
