What are some good ways to be lifted out of depression?

I have been brought down by depression lately, and all i really want to do is lay in bed a cry. Now, i am not usually one to do the hole self pity, life sucks thing, but i am hard core right now, so i have no idea how to get out of it. You might say fix what is bugging you, but that’s the thing, i am not exactly sure what brought this upon me. Any ideas? I am kinda open to anything at this point because i am pulling away from everyone. (thats how i cope, i pull away and push people away)

You def always gotta keep busy, which will keep your mind off things. Don’t just stay inside your house get out and do things. Watch comedy movies be around friends who make you laugh. Do a hobby you love, or get back into something you loved and haven’t done in awhile.

Brooke is right you need to force yourself out and do things. In the US Midwest Sept and October is when cases of depression start to rise and increases as the winter months progress. It’s due to weather change and the absence of sunlight. You could try intensifying your lighting at home and spending more time, taking walks preferably in sunlight. There is also what is called SAD lighting available, you could speak to your doctor about, if that is what’s bringing on the depression.
