Want to legally divorce mother
I would like to legally be divorced from my mother. I want nothing more to do with her and no responsibility for her any longer. I would like to have her served with some kind of offical papers stating this but do not know what it would be called. I am 40 years old and she has hurt me for the last time. she should have never hurt my children (3) and me. I have been taking care for her for over a year now and while I finally went on vacation with my family she had all the locks changed, bank accounts closed, and papers listing my cousin as her keeper. this is ok with me but I would still like to have her served with something stating the finallity of it.
Any one know what to do, would sure appreciate it.
you can’t divorce from a parent, and if your 40 then you shouldn’t be letting her harass you that’s really pathetic you are an adult and you can tell your mom to back off.
Go to a lawyer and have them file for a “Cease & Desist Order”. This is the only way to divorce your mom. After you do this she will not be allowed to have any contact with you or your children.
Good luck
I’d suggest you talk to a lawyer. I’m not entirely sure what you can do, I mean it really is just a symbolic gesture since she has no legal right over you anyways, and you dont legally owe her anything…
I don’t think you can get a divorce from a parent without being a preteen or teenager. there is always a restraining order to keep your mom away from you and your kids.
I don’t think a restraining order was exactly what you were looking for but I don’t think there is a spacific way to get what you’re wanting. If you talk to a lawyer you might be able to find something better. If you do go with the restraining order though it’ll be on her record that she has a restraining order on her and that would be something people could look at. …
