How many times a day should you feed a small amount to a small dog?
I have this dog food, that comes in 12 small individual packets. I have been feeding my small dog (under 10lbs.) half a packet in the morning, and half a pack at night. Is that enough?
Small dog will be very active and feeding 3 times a day will be sufficient. It will need food every 6 hours for its proper growth structure
small dogs are not much being hungry as compare to a big dog so i think only 2 times is sufficient .
I feed my guys 3 times day as Chihuahua tend to suffer from hypoglycemia (and pugs are always hungry). and big dogs are best fed several small meals instead of a large one as it helps prevent bloat.
What is hypoglycemia?
There should be directions of the food for how much to feed. My chihuahua who is 9 pounds eats a cup and a half a day and he is rippling muscles. (half a cup each feeding)
hypoglycemia is low blood sugar, same thing as people get with diabetes.
It said to feed it half a pack to a whole pack…but it didn’t say how many times a day. I’ve been feeding my dog about half a cup twice a day.
if u have a baby dog - 3x a day.. if its an old small dog.. maybe once or twice will do..
Always follow the package directions with regards to the weight of your dog. I think how you split it up depends upon you and your dog. I feed mine 2x per day (breakfast and supper) as that fits with my work schedule and it works well with their popping schedule.
