Not sure what an expander is… but I’m assuming it doesn’t allow you to speak as you normally do, just as a tongue ring, retainer, etc… would not allow you to speak as you normally do.

Really, the only thing you can do is just learn to deal with it. Practice talking with the expander in your mouth, and just get used to it. It takes a while to start talking properly after you get a tongue ring, or retainer… but once you get used to it, you are able to talk just fine.

The only other thing you could do is get the expander taken out (if you can’t take it out yourself), which may not be a good idea… as I am assuming there is a reason you have it, and you need it in your mouth. If it’s something you don’t want or need, then nobody is forcing you to keep it in your mouth, right?

This is a lot of work to sound normal, but you will adapt, till then you are stuck talking like a tard.

Answer #3

Your mouth and tongue will get used to it eventually, it just takes time & patience. Practice speaking by reading out aloud, count from 60-70 and get your tongue used to its new position. Just remember soon it’ll give you a beautiful smile!

angelee27 is right u have to get used to it u really cant do anything about it i say this because i have spacers and i dont talk like i used to but i had to get used to it and now all my friends and family are used to me talking the way i do with them

Answer #5

You will adapt to it, in the meantime before your presentation, you could try saying poems and limericks to yourself or reading stories to a young child if one lives near you. It will get you used to talking with it in, and some poems will have challenging tongue twisters.

Answer #6

Is the expander glued into your mouth? If not just take it out before your presentation and put it back in when you’re done. I used to have one too a long time ago, it sucked. And yeah, it made me talk funny too.

Answer #7

An expander, or sometimes called a palette expander, is kinda like a retainer except it’s supposed to widen your mouth before you get braces so they’ll fit better.
