How did the attitudes about Southern women and poor whites complicate the Scottsboro Trials and the trial of Tom Robinson in To Kill a Mockingbird?

I’m writing a paper on the parallels between the Scottsboro Trials and To Kill a Mockingbird. One of the parallels being that attitudes about Southern women and poor whites greatly complicated each. To an extent I understand that, I just need a little more explanation on the subject.

Well, I’ve never heard of the Scottsboro Trials.. but I watched “to Kill a Mockingbird” in 9th grade civics (: Basically attitudes direct how things go, do they not? If the jury had a bad attitude/was already against Tom Robinson, then obviously he’s gonna have trouble with his case. The problem is that the jury was biased. They were against him from the beginning because he was poor. I suppose the word “judgemental” is a way to describe it. Hope I’ve helped at least a little (:
