How did the white police in southh africa treat black prisoners ?

I need to know how the white police treated the black people that they put in prison during the apartheid ( not being racist ) cann anyone help me please ?

Answer #1

It was segregation in residental, education, medical care, public services. And provided subpar services to blacks. Residential areas were segregated by force and many/all of the blacks were deprieved of their citizenships and become citizens of tribally bases self-governing homelands (bantustans).

Answer #2

the police think white people are more safe but infact the black people are safer and they wip them too

Answer #3

well im south African, I was born towards the end of the apartheid times but from what I have learned in school and what my parents told me, black prisoners were treated very badly. the whites regarded the blacks as inferior and not worthy of anything. Blacks were tortured using different methods and their standard of living was bad. blacks were secretly murdered and some of them mysteriously disappeared.

Answer #5

I am Afrikaner myself, living in South Africa, Steve Biko’s case was the beginning of human rights in South Africa, in those times the word was hardly known,

basically John Voster the prime minister at that time allowed prisoners to be detained without trial for 169 days because the jails were so full at that time. The police used harsh interrogation methods (some see it as torture), but they were acceptable for that time.

The Homeland police also treated their own people very bad, but the crime rate was lower at that time then at the moment, the law served the black people just as well as the white person, hardly anyone was ever jailed or given the death penalty without trail (biko being the unfortunate acception of being subjected to severe torture)
