How can I start getting the sleep I need?

Recently i have been staying up between 1-3 am or even the whole night. Last night i only got an hour or 2 worth of sleep. I’m only 15. Is this normal? If not what are somethings i can do before i even set my head on the pillow?

Answer #1

Its normal for teens, but its unhealthy, Here’s some tips:) Try to read in advance your lesson until your eyes tired and fall asleep. Try to stay awake during the day, go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time. Although the first week is a difficult obstacle to overcome, after that your body can begin adjusting to a new sleeping pattern. Stay up lat one night and wake up really early the next morning, this will make you more sleepy at night when you need to go to bed

i suggest go to bed earlier and relax your mind

This is completely abnormal. At this age many teens faces problems because of the bad routine. You need at least 6 hours of sleep a day and 8 hours of sleep on an average.

You should build a good routine and follow it. Try to sleep and make a habit of it. If it becomes serious consult with a doctor and follow the doctor advice. Hope it will help you:)

Teens usually need atleast 7-8 hours of sleep, but every person is different. Some people need less or more sleep than others. But one or two hours sleep a night can severely affect anyone, because that is very little sleep. You can try natural or homopathic remedies that calms you down and relaxes you a bit so you can fall asleep easier. You can also try camomile tea, though it is very mild. Also try sticking to a routine every night before bed time, aspecially what time you go to bed and get up in the mornings. Excercise during the day has been said to help people get to sleep at night, so try some cardio excercise. Do NOT watch television or spend time on the computer before bedtime. Rather read a book. And do NOT drink or eat anything with cafeien in it. Also stay away from carbonated and energy drinks.

If none of these help you, you should go see a docter, because it could be possible that you have a sleep disorder.

Answer #6

The question is this. Do you drink a lot of soda with caffeine in them or coffee. The reason is over stimulating your adrenals will cause your adrenal gland not to produce meltonine at night. One needs at least 8 hours of sleep to stay healthy and maintain a good body weight. Also, the carbonation in sodas rob your body of calcium so hinders the ability to sleep well.

Here’s what to do. Eat as much raw foods as possible, like vegetables. Whole grains, not processed grains. Have protein once a day and not more than 3 oz. Drink whole milk and especially before going to bed. Chocolate milk is best. The chocolate has a very high count of antioxidants in it. Take a very good vitamin made from natural foods and especially vitamin B1 three times a day, 100mg, and before going to bed with chocolate milk. Eat as many red fruits as possible, like apples, red grapes, cherries, peaches and plums. They are all high in antioxidants. See how that works.

This is likely the best way to do. Stay relax, be discipline, like off TV and off PC. lay on bed, grab a book… start snoring :-)
