How do start to believe in something that doesn't exist?

Like God, I’m one of those people I basically have to c it to believe it, I want to believe in God but I’m not sure how exactly to start

Answer #1

You cant “make” yourself believe in something you dont doll. Ive been there. I searched for a way to believe in God for years and went to church, talked to religious people, studied the bible, i tried everything because i felt that it was what i was supposed to believe in and something was wrong with me because i didnt. In that entire searching and trying…i was never happy and i never believed. It was only when i accepted who i was and my own personal beliefs that life turned around and i was happy again. You dont have to believe in any God to be happy and lead a good life, you just have to be content with yourself and follow your own standards and morals.

Thats a really hard one. I think you just need to go to religious services and hopefully over time you will start to feel the presence of whatever God you are praying to. Its not something that going to happen overnight, it takes time and you have to be open to it happending. Believing in something without proof comes from the heart and soul, not the mind.

I had a similar problem. I really did not believe in God. Then I changed religion and within the first year, felt their presence, knew with all my heart that they were real. Now, 15 years later I have an unshakable faith. I couldn’t be happier!

Answer #3

your one of those huh well i’ll turn ya, i’ll turn ya real good … to the father the son and the holy ghost just kidding anyways i guess if you really want to force yourself you should try to find faith in one of a kind acts you’ve seen and see if youd reason whether or not just seeing a miracle does it for you or whether its just some hokey that a giant ghostly bearded man cant live in the sky, but really it just is to the point having enough faith that does it for any person but if you cant believe in god it doesnt really make it worth it to even pray to him if he doesnt hold any significance to you since you dont believe it

Answer #4

as long as you know … whatever you do how ever you try you CAN NOT see god if you feel you cant believe in something which is not exist at all i suggest you would stop spending all your time with some thing which is useless …start belive in observing Good mannerism and beautiful things in life…focus more on making people happy around you and make them smile =) that is what makes you truly happy ….Enjoy each moment of life.. as mandyloo said ‘’follow your own standards’’. peace out

Answer #5

Well I do that allready, I do love to give and I’m happy with myself and I do love to make others smile, and I do enjoy every moment in life

Answer #6

Belief in God rests on faith. As the Bible says, “no man has seen God at any time.” (John 1:18) Likewise, no human saw the forming of the universe or the commencement of life. Nor has anyone ever seen one kind of life evolve into a higher kind or even into a different kind. The fossil record shows that the major groups of animals appeared suddenly and have remained virtually unchanged. In order to understand ourselves, should we look down, as it were, to apes and other animals, as evolutionists do? Or should we look up to God for answers? Granted, we have certain things in common with animals. We have to eat, drink, and sleep, for example, and we are able to reproduce. Still, we are unique in many ways. Reason suggests that our distinct human traits stem from a Being higher than ourselves—that is, from God. The Bible put that thought succinctly, stating that God formed mankind “in his image” morally and spiritually speaking. (Genesis 1:27) Why not contemplate God’s qualities, some of which are recorded at Deuteronomy 32:4; James 3:17, 18; and 1 John 4:7, 8.

Our Creator has given us the “intellectual capacity” to investigate the world around us and to find satisfying answers to our questions. (1 John 5:20) In this regard, physicist and Nobel laureate William D. Phillips wrote: “When I examine the orderliness, understandability, and beauty of the universe, I am led to the conclusion that a higher intelligence designed what I see. My scientific appreciation of the coherence, and the delightful simplicity of physics strengthens my belief in God.”

It is our sincere hope that you too will see that it is not at all unreasonable to believe in God. In fact, like Paul, may you do more than simply believe that He exists. May you also grow to appreciate—as millions already have—that Jehovah God is a spirit person with endearing qualities that resonate in the human heart and draw us to him.—Psalm 83:18; John 6:44; James 4:8.

But how does that fit when I don’t believe wat I can’t c? Maybe its becuz all of the horrible things I have had happen to me, but isn’t that supposed to b the devil at work? Nothin ever really works out for me and I can’t remember the last time I was happy, so y wud god want that for anyone

Answer #9

While accurate knowledge is essential to faith in God, more is needed to move one to obey and to serve him. When asked what is the greatest commandment from God, Jesus said: “You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind and with your whole strength.” (Mark 12:30) If a person loves God the way Jesus indicated, he will be most willing to obey and serve Him. Is that true of you?

Yes, love for God makes us want to serve him from the heart. But how does one come to have such love? The strongest stimulus to cultivate love for God is deep appreciation for the love that he has shown us. Note this heartwarming reminder from the Bible: “He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love. By this the love of God was made manifest in our case, because God sent forth his only-begotten Son into the world that we might gain life through him. The love is in this respect, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent forth his Son as a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins.”—1 John 4:8-10.

Do you appreciate how great this love is? Just imagine that you were drowning in a rushing stream and a man risked his life to save you. Would you forget him, or would you not be extremely grateful to him? Would you not be willing to do everything you could for him? The love that God showed in providing his Son, Jesus Christ, as the ransom sacrifice is incomparably greater. (John 3:16; Romans 8:38, 39) When your heart is touched by God’s love, you will be motivated to love and serve him wholeheartedly.

Answer #10

Then I guess ur tellin me I really don’t know how to love? Maybe that’s true

Answer #11

“Jehovah of armies is judging with righteousness; he is examining the kidneys and the heart,” says the Bible. (Jeremiah 11:20) Yes, Jehovah is examining what is hidden in the deepest recesses of our being. Each one should examine his own motive for believing in God. Erroneous beliefs and concepts about God may have contributed to wrong actions in the past. But accurate knowledge of the Bible can lead to a right relationship with the Creator, Jehovah God.—1 Timothy 2:3, 4.

Through their free home Bible study arrangement, Jehovah’s Witnesses are helping people to gain an accurate knowledge of God. (Matthew 28:20) Many who have accepted such help have come to love God and have developed genuine faith in him. Through a study of the Bible, they have acquired “practical wisdom and thinking ability,” which help them to “walk in security” in these perilous days. (Proverbs 3:21-23) Above all, they now entertain a hope “both sure and firm” for the future. (Hebrews 6:19) You too can have true faith and enjoy these blessings.

Answer #12

Find someone who believes about what you want to believe. A friend or someone you trust. You can have them pray with you, and you can pray for yourself. Maybe go to church, at some churches God is really tangible. See how others feel Him. Pray for Him to prove Himself, and He will :P

Answer #13

You cant. People dont agree with me. Even the people closest to me have basically mocked my beliefs. Who cares what other people think? You can’t start to believe in God if you dont any more than I’m going to start believe in the tooth fairy.

Answer #14

There are plenty of things we don’t c and believe in them. To begin with i think it would be a good idea to pray to God about the subject from the bottom of your heart and be humble enough to accept the way HE shows you to be the answer. Have you trayed that before?

Answer #15

You cant

Answer #16

It seems to me, correct me if i’m wrong, that you want to believe. If so, what do you mean “to believe in something you don’t see”? God? The Bble? or something else?
