What skills are needed for free running?

You don’t really need skill as such. You need determination, patience and persistence. Though it does help if you are athletic, supple, good cardio and have good upper body muscle, though it’s not necessary.

If you try it out, make sure you are limber before you do anything (warm up), because you can easily damage yourself if you don’t.

As you may know, free running is for showing off, and is different to parkour which is trying to get from A to B as quick as possible.

So really if you want to do free running then you might want to learn to do backflips (safely) and other things like that. However, I suggest you start off by mastering the basics like all the sorts of vaults, etc.

Remember, the more things you can do, like if you can do loads of different vaults instead of the same one, it will help, because free running is about appearance, style and showing off.
