sewing /grommet question?

Do you sew and know how to use a grommet?

I have installing some grommets in a purse I am making. I think the area I am putting them is too thick. There are about 4 layers there because of stiffening agent and liner and such so the grommets aren’t staying in place even after much pounding. Are there thicker grommets available or other options?

Does anyone have some thoughts on this? I would love to keep the wholes metal looking but they don’t have to be. They are for a sinch chord.

Yes - I make small animal hammocks that are sometimes thicker than others so I had to go buy bigger, thicker grommets. I don’t know if you have the craft store called ‘Michaels’ there but that’s where I got larger ones.
