Serious Health Concerns, & Distant Parents.

I’m still a minor, and therefore still living with my parents, but we aren’t exactly what you would call “The Model Family” I haven’t had an actual conversation with my father for almost three years now, and my mother is very distant, and so we’ve grown apart. We live according to a ‘If you don’t bother me, I won’t bother you’ rule. Which I’m fine with, I am a good kid, but recently my health has been concerning me. I’m seriously concerned that I may have a type of cancer (Which does run in my family history) and I want to set up an appointment with my doctor, for a physical, to help ease my worry, but my question is, how can I bring up my concerns about my health with my two distant parents? Would I be better off going with someone else, another family member without their knowledge?

Answer #1

juss tell them. you dont have to have a conversation but juss say can you please take me to the docter. unless they hate you then they will but all you have to do is tell the nurse and docter they dont even have to come in with you!! except to sign the papers of course!

Answer #2

a school nurse might be the best place to start, or a school counselor. they will talk with you and help you decide how to best approach your parents with this.
