Saftey/boot up disk

My comp crahsed (dell 2400 running on microsoft xp home edition) I dont have a saftey or boot up diosk, anywhere I can get it? Will dell send me one if my warrenty is expired?

Answer #1

Get a friend to burn a copy of their boot up disk. You have to use a ‘DVD-R’ disc, not a ‘CD-R’. Then all you should have to do is run the disc and follow the prompts, depending on how fried your computer is. I’ve had to do this a couple of times. Once, the disc a friend burned for me worked, but the other time I had to get him to re-do the whole computer. Good luck!

okay thankyou so much!

Answer #3

I would suggest having a friend make a start up disk for you on USB or DVD. Once you do get back into your computer make your own and save it somewhere safe, like with all your installed software. In fact i would go a step further and back up your system. There are several ways to do this I prefer making a restoration image for my windows 8 installation. Instruction are in the link.
