Running up and down stairs.

Is running up and down 2 floors of stairs (I live in an apartment), is good as jogging on flat ground?

3 times each set. And I do 3 sets. I sweat like hell, and get out out breath.

Is it good? Will it help my legs? Get toned I mean, and stuff.

Running up and downstairs is a great idea! I kept doing this an hour a day for a month. I lost 20 pounds, but of course you have to stay on a well nutritioned diet. But I 100% would do this, and it very safe.

Best Regards on this!

By far stair fitness out performs running on flat surfaces in cardio and large muscle performance (thighs, glutes, calves)…large muscles burn more calories while at rest… it is less damaging to lower back, shins, knees, feet and ankles. Just take precautions and always have your hand either on or near the handrail in the event you trip…which brings me to the fact that you don’t have to speed up and down to get a great workout…some people do but it increases ones chance of falling. Yes, I think it helps more then running on flat ground. Stairs make you work harder.

I feel this is a good thing as running up and downstairs makes your heart beat faster, I like to keep healthy and toned, so I do run ups of stairs 20 times each morning and night. I feel so good after, and the more I do this the more easier it becomes and you strive for more… It really is a good home based excercise.. what you need is willpower.. respect lynn
