How to get rid of my cantonese accent when speaking mandarin?

this is really bothering me as I have learnt cantonese over mandarin now im learning mandarin and when trying to speak with thier pinyin tho easier than cantonese i find my self speaking mandarin with a canto accent >< what should I do?

Answer #1

Losing an accent is not easy, but it can be done. Have you tried having a recording of the mandarin accent playing while you sleep. This will instil the accent deep inside your psyche.

You could just practice talking mandarin only for a while, this will allow your sub-conscious to block out the cantonese accent when you are speaking mandarin.

You could try these suggestions, but, I think a lot of it is down to practical effort.

Answer #2

Answer #3

I think that that is the only way. Congratulations on learning so many.

Answer #4

Do you have someone that is mandarin who you speak it to? The best way imo to get rid of an accent when speaking another language is to try and imitate the person you are speaking to i.e. say the words like they say it.

Answer #5

Im Sure It Just Takes Time. I Personally Cannot Speak Any Language Other Than English And I Have A Hard Time At That Lol. But I Think It Might Just Be Something That Happens.
