I think your accent sounds lovely. My grandparents practiced hard to loose their accents (Welsh) but never really managed. All they ended up with was sounding less English than the English and less Welsh than the Welsh. So you should think about if you really want to loose it. You probably partly have the accent because you love your parents and your home life and you identify with them as much as you do your school friends. That’s a beautiful thing, and I agree with kloaiza86 that getting rid of a sign of your heritage is a bit of a shame.

But if you do want to get rid of it, then listening to movies and TV shows where people have the accent you like, and repeating the things they say, will help. But it will turn you into someone else, to some extent. I think it’s better to be yourself.

Excuse me for asking, but why would you want to get rid of it? An accent is your culture and race and heritage! I mean that is the way I feel with my Costa Rican accent and I love it! I don’t think people can ever fully get rid of their accent…

You shouldn’t get rid of your accent. It’s what make you who you are everyone has some sort of accent.
