Why do rats make weird noises?

Like is it them communicating? Because I have ONE rat, so I’m not sure why it would need to talk D: and she just makes random noises when shes in her cage, and i’ll take her out to play with her and she still makes those noises.

the rat might have mycoplasmosis and the sound is probably becuz there is congestion in the nose/lungs. its possibly an infection but i dont know much else about the subject.

They are very social, so that is most likely what they noises are - they do this fairly often with humans as well as other rats. Just make sure the rat isnt wheezing which can be a sign of illness. Wheezing usually is rhythmic, occuring in time with the breathing and it happens when the rat is awake and asleep.
