How well does the "pull out method" work as the only form of birth control?

Me and my boyfriend have been going out half a year now. We haven’t actually had sex yet, but im sure im ready for it, even though im a virgin. I’m 100% positive he doesn’t have any STDs or anything, so im not too worried about it. Just how well does just the pull out method alone [no condoms] work? has anyone gotten pregnant from it? i have read that pre-come itself doesnt contain sperm, does this mean that if he hasnt actually came withen a couple of days, and went pee since then… that i couldnt get pregnant from pre-come alone?

Answer #1

Not it is not a legitimate form of birthcontrol i’ve gotten pregnant while using the pull out method so seriously, just use a condom or birthcontrol.

Answer #2

well did he ‘come’ recently before then, did he give his system enough time to ‘clean it all out’? was he completely out before he finished?

Answer #3

I dont understand what your asking. You can get pregnant from precum though it isn’t a high chance there still is sperm in it.

Answer #4

you can but isnt that only if the guy has ejaculated sometime before? precome itself doesnt contain sperm….

“There’s a risk of pregnancy, but it’s not as high as ejaculation in the vg**a. Before ejaculation, all pens*s can leak fluid — pre-ejaculate. Pre-ejaculate itself does not contain sperm. But it may pick up sperm from a previous ejaculation as it passes through a man’s urethra. That could cause pregnancy.”

Pull out is a method? woooah. It’s cheeper than legitimate birth control I suppose :/

I mock of course, but come on, pull out is not a method, if you want to decrease your chances of getting pregnant, then use birth control. Simple really.

Answer #6

Yes precum does contain sperm and it doesn’t matter if he has ejaculated beforehand or not. Just use birthcontrol or a condom and it will significantly lower your chances of pregnancy. Why risk it?

Answer #7

good point

and dont be afraid to mock…. hell i do the same thing ^_^

Answer #10

the pullout method is NOT birth control. birth control are pills you take every day to avoid pregnancy. the pullout method is just a TRICK some people use in HOPE of not getting pregnant. the pullout method is a LOT LESS effective than real birth control. a lot of people get pregnant, especially teens from it because guys find it hard to pull out at the exact rigt time, there also is sperm in pre-c*m and you can get pregnant from it. the pullout method is not the right way to go if you plan to avoid pregnancy, your basically taking a gamble, and theres a good chance you’ll loose. if you want to avoid pregnancy use condoms and/or go on the birth control PILL

Answer #11

Kill the mood? Not as bad as a screaming baby in the middle of the night. ;)

Answer #12

yeah… i know…. i grew up in a household of six little sisters…. four of them was under the age of five before i moved out…… needless to say, i dont want to deal with kids right now >_<

Answer #13

I am currently on the birth control pill aswell as using condoms. There should be places you can go to get these things for free such as a family health clinic that your parents don’t even have to know about. The ‘pull out method’ does not work my mum had done that when she was 17 and was pregnant with my oldest brother. She didn’t realize that because no one had spoken about sex with her back then. If the boy says it works he is either lying or lacking education about sex because it doesn’t work you can still get pregnant from it because he precums, he’s ejaculated past few days and there’s still sperm cells on his willy or he might ejaculate but deny it.

Answer #14

Yeah condoms and birth control are much better. I have used the pull out method and not had a problem in the past but that was with someone i was prepared to have a child with so if you don’t want to get pregnant. Then definetly use extra precautions. You’re talking about the possibility of a child don’t leave it to chance.

Answer #15

I would not use the pull out method. I wouldd use birthcontrol or condoms. Because if u did the ppullout method there is still precum. meaning there is a chance, but very small, of getting pregnant.

Answer #16

Mind you alot of guys can have more than one precum before the big bang.

Answer #17

Guarenteed baby…..it doesn’t work.

Answer #18

It works about 0.01% of the time. Precum and all.

Answer #19

I’ve used the “pull out method” and it worked for me but i was so scared i was pregnat. i would recomend birthcontrol. I just got on it.

Answer #20

Like others have pointed out, coitus interruptus is not a dependable form of birth control. There is a term usually associated with people who use the “pull out method” and that term is parents.

If you don’t want to get pregnant than use real birth control. Since most birth control has some failure rate if you really don’t want to get pregnant than you should combine two methods.

Answer #21

let’s just say i wouldn’t depend on it! i mean you should use a condom and still pull out! (cause the condom can break)
