How does the Pocket Pouch for Blackberry work?

Why does my phones back light go off as soon as it touches the blackberry cube thing on the pocket pouch ? How does it work ?

Are you sure it’s in the pouch, and not a light sensor in your phone?

PS: it does say here it got a “Energy-Saving Magnetic Sensor”, but I cannot figure out how it work.

it says nothing on the box besides custom designed to fit you BlackBerry smartphone bla bla bla” nothing about energy saving or a light sensor… Thats why I was wondering I know even If i remove it form the pouch and let it lie down onto the cube thingi in the outside the phones light also goes off and the phone locks..
